Leg pain could be an indicator of various issues within the body. Many of these issues stem from an array of vein-related conditions such as blood clots, otherwise known as deep venous thrombosis (DVT), varicose veins, and spider veins. Another condition that often leads to leg tenderness or aching is Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI), which most commonly occurs as a result of DVT. CVI is due to the valves in your veins not working properly, due to a variety of causes, leading to the blood not being able to return to the heart. This causes the blood pressure in your veins to remain elevated for long periods of time. When the leg swells, it stretches the tissue, and causes pain. Many of these medical issues will use leg pain as an initial indicator, so it is essential that you monitor this symptom and pay attention to the sensations you are feeling in your legs, to see if it persists, in order to help pinpoint a diagnosis and pursue proper treatment.
